Philanthropy

Each semester our current philanthropy chairman selects a committee and runs an event to raise money and awareness towards a charitable organization. By holding these events we aim to improve human welfare by donating time and money to promote a good cause. All events feature numerous different ways for brothers to help out, whether it be collecting tickets at the door or sitting above a dunk tank.

MONEY RAISED: $2500

Cones & Bones saw its third appearance as a philanthropy event under Chairman Seifriz in the spring of 2022. This year’s version featured many of the same crowd favorites from former Cones & Bones events, such as ice cream, snow cones, and of course some members’ family dogs. Ticket sales amounting to $2500 were donated to Puppy Jake Foundation which trains and provides service dogs for retired veterans. Due to the amount raised, we were able to name a puppy-in-training at the foundation headquarters, which we appropriately named Tau!

ORGANIZATION SUPPORTED: Iowa Stead Family Children’s HosPital

PHILANTHROPY CHAIRMAN: Jacob Brown

MONEY RAISED: $1550

The fall of 2021 brought us an amazing opportunity to partner with Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City to provide a donation supporting pediatric medicine in our home state. Guests purchased a ticket for a car full of viewers to view Monsters University in a parking lot across campus. Our members were able to raise $1550 through ticket sales, further improving our standard of philanthropic achievement.
